A Pair of Ormolu-Mounted Cut-Glass Vases, French, circa 1815-1820.

Each vase is adorned with winged swan handles emerging from acanthus leaves, complementing the hobnail-cut baluster body. The upper section features a circular waisted neck with a beaded rim, while the base rests on a spreading square socle, embellished with a lotus leaf border and supported by bun feet.

The fashion for this type of jewelled and ormolu mounted cut-glass vase was widespread throughout Paris and Northern Europe in the early 19th century.
