Chandelier for nine-candles, Alexander I, St. Petersburg early 19th century.

An important chandelier for nine-candles in ormolu and patinated bronze with cut-glass bowls. The leaf cast scrolled candle arms centered by a patinated mask, issuing four chains to the top. Both bottom and top with cut-glass bowls from the Imperial glassworks decorated with ormolu leafs and cone finals.

The extraordinary characteristics of Russian chandeliers from the period came from some of the foreign and skillful manufacturers that immigrated to Russia in the late 18th century.
