The French-born Carl Ludvig Mangeot was trained by Rung. In time Mangeot started his own workshop and took up the competition for the sale of gilt objects with Rung. His multifaceted production included all kinds of objects such as candelabras, candlesticks and mountings for various porphyry objects. He also imported French bronzes. Mangeot had extensive deliveries to the royal castles 1826-1830. The quality of Mangeot’s work in terms of chiseling and burnishing holds a very high international class. Carl Ludvig Mangeot was considered by his contemporaries to be the foremost maker of gilded objects. Objects by him are relatively rare today.
