Charles-Guillaume Manière was the son of a Parisian watchmaker, and he himself became master of his guild in 1778. He worked for the Parisian “Marchands-merciers” Dominique Daguerre and Francois Darnault. Most of the cases for his watches were made by the famous bronze casters of the time, such as Pierre Phillipe Thomire and Francois Remond. Works by Charles-Guillaume Manière are in some of the finest museum collections in the world, among them the J. Paul Getty Museum.
