Henrik Sten made a significant impact on Swedish ceramic history during the 18th century, especially in the technical realm, where flint porcelain, which dominated production during his time, was at the forefront. He began his career as an apprentice potter at Rörstrand porcelain factory, which started its operations as the country’s first faience factory in 1726. In 1768, he left Rörstrand to join the competing Marieberg porcelain factory, founded in 1758, where he started as a journeyman.
